Social Insurance Number

A Social Insurance Number or SIN for short, is one of the most important things you will apply for in Canada. The SIN is required to open a bank account, get a job, file a tax return, and to register for many government programs. This number tells the government when you are earning money, paying tax, paying into pension plans, and using government services.

You can apply for a SIN in Red Deer at the Canada-Alberta Service Centre:

   First Red Deer Place
   Floor 2, 4911 51st Street
   Red Deer, Alberta T4N 6V4

Hours of operation: Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Ensure that you have the required documents including your permanent residency card. More information about the process for applying and the required documents is available at Service Canada’s website
