Many occupations in Alberta are regulated so that if you want to work in that occupation, you must demonstrate the necessary skills and experience. The Government of Alberta’s Immigration website gives some information and links to help you understand the regulated occupations and the process to have your credentials recognized.
Alberta Employment & Immigration has an International Qualification Assessment Service (IQAS). This service translates foreign educational and training qualifications to their approximate Canadian equivalents and issues a certificate declaring this translation.
There may be funding available to help immigrants pay for upgrading their qualifications. More information is available through EPSS.
