Our Diversity

Red Deer and the surrounding towns, just like Canada, have been built by the strength and determination of people who immigrated here from all around the world. Just like then, our new generation of immigrants is coming here for the opportunity for a better life for them and their children.

In the early days, immigration was mainly from Europe but recently, we have many people moving here from South America, the Philippines, China, India, Vietnam, and Pakistan. This new generation of immigrants is adding diversity and strength to our communities.

Red Deer is home to Alberta’s third largest Filipino population and a large population of Spanish and Chinese speaking people. The most recent Red Deer Census reported that about 5% of Red Deer’s population speaks a language other than English at home.
